This year we are starting some exciting new learning in the way of module groups. These are groups of 10 students from a class that have a 1/2 hour lesson over three days (tuesdays) in an area to do with plants/growing/enviromental science etc.
We have begun with Team 2 who are learning about how plants grow and will be caring for their own bean seed and discussing what is happening to it over time. We talked about how they will need: air, sunlight, water, soil and nutrients.
12/3/13
Today we measured our beans - they ranged in height from 2cm to 23cm tall. We talked about how the beans in Room 6 grew very long over the weekend and we think it was because they were looking for the light. In the trial container we can see the bean roots shooting down the sides of the pot. We have talked about how the roots transport the food and water to the plant. We have created a special booklet to put our information in and to document our bean growth.
